Our story

Rai Arts was founded by Kira Rai Daniel, a dancer, arts administrator, and entrepreneur who saw a gap in the way dancers were being prepared for professional life.
The Problem
Dance education does an incredible job of preparing dancers for the craft, but what happens when the performance ends?
- 01Who teaches dancers how to understand a contract?
- 02How to manage freelance income?
- 03How to navigate professional relationships?
- 04How to create opportunities?
- 05How to advocate for themselves?
- 06How to build a career that can evolve as their lives do?
For many dancers, that education is limited.
Unless they pursue a graduate degree, invest in expensive professional development, or learn through experience, dancers are often left to figure out the business and professional realities of an arts career on their own.
Rai Arts believes that shouldn't be the standard.
A different approach to career preparation
Rai Arts believes that being career-ready means more than being artistically prepared.
The Rai Arts Career Readiness Framework™ was created to provide the foundation for our educational work, bringing together the practical knowledge, professional skills, and career strategies that dancers need beyond their artistic training.
Our approach recognizes that a dance career doesn't exist in isolation. It intersects with money, work, relationships, business, communication, decision-making, and the life you are building outside of the studio.
That's why our work isn't about teaching dancers to become something other than dancers. It's about giving dancers the tools to navigate the world as professionals.
We believe dancers should have access to practical education that helps them make informed decisions, advocate for themselves, and create careers that are aligned with the lives they want to live.
Because supporting the artist means supporting the person behind the artistry.
Why Rai Arts?
We don't believe dancers should have to choose between being artists and building sustainable lives.
A successful dance career can look many different ways. It can include performing, teaching, choreographing, entrepreneurship, arts administration, creative work, or several paths at once.
What matters is that dancers have the knowledge to make informed decisions about their careers and the freedom to define success for themselves.
Five questions every dancer should be able to answer
- 01Career FoundationsAm I ready to enter the field with a clear plan?
- 02Business ReadinessAm I ready to create opportunities for myself?
- 03Financial ReadinessAm I ready to manage money as a working artist?
- 04Professional ReadinessAm I ready to be someone people want to hire?
- 05Longevity ReadinessAm I ready to sustain this for the long haul?
